GRADE I HISTORIC BUILDING
BLUE HOUSE

A century-old shophouse, known locally as Tong Lau, has been preserved much more than the architectural itself but culture of the good old days. This living heritage has been awarded UNESCO highest honour after a ten-year conservation.

Architectural features of verandas and ornamental metal balustrades have been specially designed to retain in the conservation project.

The outer walls of building were mistakenly painted with leftover brightly blue paint in a past maintenance, thus Blue House was named.

Historic features of patterned cement floor tiles which were commonly used in early twentieth centuries have been preserved and restored after the conservation project.
